Trendy Gardener is a Des Moines biophilic design and interior plantscaping firm founded by Hunter Frescoln. We create living environments through intentional plant placement, sculptural specimens, globally sourced artisan vessels, custom botanical features, and professional horticultural care.
The work began with a larger question
The business began with handwritten notes, sketches, and ideas about how plants, interiors, craftsmanship, and construction could operate as one design discipline. Early work centered on individual plants. It quickly became clear that clients needed more than access to inventory—they needed judgment about scale, placement, vessels, light, installation, and long-term care.
The first complete installation brought those decisions together. That was the point at which Trendy Gardener became less about selling plants and more about creating living designs that belong to the room and remain viable within it.
Our design language
We create living designs through intentional pairings of sculptural plants and globally sourced artisan vessels—pieces with history, character, aged patinas, and perfectly imperfect handmade qualities that make every installation completely unique.

Hunter Frescoln brings a background in residential and commercial design to the horticultural field. That experience informs how Trendy Gardener approaches space planning, proportion, materials, client experience, fabrication, installation, and the coordination required to move a concept into a finished environment.
