Architects & Interior Designers
TRADE PARTNERSHIPS
Biophilic design support from early concept through long-term care.
Trendy Gardener works with architects, interior designers, builders, developers, and project teams to translate a botanical concept into a viable, buildable, maintainable installation. We contribute horticultural, material, and operational expertise without competing with the design team’s authorship of the broader interior.
Start a Trade Conversation Review Specification Capabilities
Engage before the plant list is finalized
Early collaboration allows the team to coordinate lighting, power, water, drainage, planter dimensions, millwork, mounting, floor loading, maintenance access, freight routes, and budget before those requirements become field conflicts.
Trade support capabilities
- Concept feasibility and system selection
- Plant palette, mature scale, and environmental fit
- Planter, liner, sub-irrigation, and finish specification
- Living-wall system, lighting, irrigation, drainage, and access coordination
- Preserved moss wall composition, substrate, panelization, edge, and mounting design
- Budget ranges, alternates, value engineering, and lifecycle considerations
- Material samples, finish samples, mockups, and design approvals
- Procurement, submittals, delivery, installation, commissioning, and maintenance planning
Documentation can scale to the project
Depending on scope, deliverables may include annotated plans, planting schedules, container schedules, elevations, rendered concepts, material boards, maintenance requirements, installation notes, and coordination comments. Final construction documentation remains subject to the project team’s roles and professional licensure requirements.
A specification is only as strong as the maintenance path
Live plant systems should not be approved without a realistic care and replacement plan. Trendy Gardener can provide post-installation horticultural service, train an approved provider where appropriate, or define the maintenance standard required to protect the design.
Material and claim discipline
Preserved botanical products, living-wall systems, and containers vary materially by supplier. Fire, VOC, sustainability, acoustic, warranty, and lifecycle claims must be supported by documentation for the exact product being specified. Do not borrow another manufacturer’s certifications or performance claims.
Questions Prospects Ask Before Moving Forward
At what project phase should Trendy Gardener be engaged?
Concept design or design development is ideal for integrated living walls, built-in planters, large specimens, and preserved features. Simpler plantscapes can enter later, but early engagement reduces coordination risk and protects the design intent.
Can you provide samples and submittals?
Yes, according to the selected materials and supplier capabilities. Submittals may include plant and planter schedules, finish samples, preserved material samples, system data, shop drawings, maintenance criteria, and substitution review.
Do you work outside Central Iowa?
Select preserved botanical commissions, design consulting, material procurement, and installation collaborations may be available regionally or nationally. Live-plant maintenance and leasing remain limited by service territory.
