Monstera & Rhaphidophora Care Guides

Monstera needs bright indirect light and something to climb to produce its fenestrated leaves. A monstera kept in low light without support will keep making small, solid, heart-shaped leaves indefinitely — the splits are a response to maturity and light, not age alone.

This collection also covers Rhaphidophora, commonly sold as mini monstera, which is a different genus with similar habits and a faster growth rate. Both want chunky, well-draining soil and a moss pole or plank.

Common problems

No fenestration means insufficient light, no support, or a plant still too juvenile. Yellow leaves with brown centres suggest overwatering. Aerial roots are normal and should not be cut — direct them into the pole or the pot.
