Pilea wants bright indirect light and soil that dries partway down, and it should be rotated regularly or it will lean hard toward the window. The Chinese money plant is the best known, but the genus also includes the textured aluminium and moon valley types.

Common problems

Curling or domed leaves usually mean too much light or underwatering. Drooping means thirst and recovers quickly. Leggy stems with a bare base mean not enough light — propagate the top and start again.
